Astrology explained clearly

Partnership in vedic astrology

This calculator works sidereally, with the Lahiri ayanamsha: nakshatra and pada for both people, the eight kootas of Ashtakoota with their score out of 36, Manglik and the Navamsa D9 signs. What you see are calculated results, not generated text.

Sidereal is not the same as tropical

Vedic astrology measures positions against the fixed stars, western astrology against the vernal point. The difference between the two frames, the ayanamsha, is currently about 24 degrees. That is why a vedic Sun sign is usually one sign earlier than the western one, and why the two systems are not interchangeable.

What the eight kootas count

Varna, Vashya, Dina, Yoni, Graha Maitri, Gana, Bhakoot and Nadi award at most 36 points together. Each koota compares something different, derived from the nakshatra and moon sign of both people. The calculator shows every koota separately, because the total alone hides where it came from.

What a score does not say

Ashtakoota is a traditional comparison method, not a forecast. A low score does not describe a person as unsuitable, and a high one promises nothing. Nothing here is calculated or claimed about separation, health, children or fidelity.

Frequently asked questions

Is the chart calculator free?

Yes. Guests receive a limited free quota; an account offers further calculations according to the quota shown.

Do I need an exact birth time?

Preferably yes for the ascendant and houses. Without it, those parts of the chart are less reliable.

How is a Sun sign different from an ascendant?

The everyday “zodiac sign” usually means the Sun. The ascendant is the sign rising on the eastern horizon at the time of birth.

Can a chart predict the future?

Gaist treats astrology as a symbolic tool for reflection. A chart does not establish unavoidable events or decisions.
